Irma Calabrese holds a Bachelor degree in Set Design (set & costume design for theatre and film) from Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts (Lithuania, 2004) and an Advanced Diploma in Interior Design (Design Centre Enmore, Sydney Australia, 2009). She is also a painter, has had numerous exhibitions solo and in collaboration with other artists in Lithuania, Czech Republic and Australia. Her works explore issues of culture, language, isolation, displacement, family and afterlife.
Moved to Sydney 6 years ago, leaving behind a career in Europe. Created set and costume design for numerous theatrical productions in Sydney theatres, production & costume design / continuity for short films. Her work in Australia has extended beyond the set/production design to include solo and group exhibitions of her visual art, symposiums, workshops, further studies and research in colour and design, interior design and jewellery.
